LA CROSSE, Wis. (WXOW) — The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is premiering a unique theatrical production this weekend. "Dracula: A Feminist Revenge Fantasy, Really." debuts with a fresh take on the classic Bram Stoker novel.

Director Mary Trotter shared some of the creative changes made to the story.

"There are a couple of characters that are traditionally male that are female in this version," Trotter said. "For example, Van Helsing, your famous vampire hunter and doctor. And then Renfield is also a female character. And then we see some of the other female characters, Mina and Lucy, sort of playing a more prominent role in the story."
