VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - A suspect is in custody after allegedly making an online post suggesting possible violence towards schools in Valdosta on Thursday, Oct. 9.
Valdosta City Schools (VCS) announced on Facebook that district officials were made aware of the threat late Thursday afternoon.
The school system said it immediately contacted the Valdosta Police (VPD). The suspect was identified and located. They are now in custody and will face felony charges, the school system said.
“Let us be very clear, making a threat, even as a “joke,” is not a prank. It is a crime.
Every threat, whether online or in person, will be investigated and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Those responsible will face serious legal and school disciplinary consequences, including potential expulsion
