WEST CITY, Ill. (WSIL) — A pilot walked away from a plane crash in Franklin County on Friday.

West City Police Department Sgt. Sarah Parke said the report of the plane crash came in at 9:11 a.m. on October 10. Parke said the small aircraft crashed in a field near the I-57 SB Benton exit ramp.

Police said the pilot was able to walk away from the crash without any injuries. He also refused medical assistance at the scene, police added.

Authorities reported the plane left the Benton Municipal Airport and was supposed to return to the same airport but had engine trouble.
