HINSDALE, N.H. — A hiker died Thursday after collapsing on the Kilburn Trail in Hinsdale, New Hampshire.

New Hampshire Fish and Game said the hiker, a New Hampshire resident, appeared to suffer a sudden medical emergency around noon while hiking back to the trailhead on Chesterfield Road. A companion immediately administered life-saving measures, according to officials.

Emergency personnel from the Hinsdale, Chesterfield, and Spofford fire departments, Rescue Inc., the Hinsdale Police Department, and conservation officers with New Hampshire Fish and Game responded to the scene. Despite efforts to save the hiker, officials said the person did not survive.

The identity of the hiker is being withheld pending notification of family members, officials said.
