EDGECOMB, Maine — A 91-year-old Edgecomb man who went missing Thursday morning was found safe in the woods later that day as temperatures began to drop.

Game Warden Chad Robertson and his K9 partner, Storm, located Valmar Thompson, around 5:40 p.m., the Maine Warden Service said in a press release. Thompson was disoriented and sitting on a stone wall with one shoe missing when he was found.

Thompson, who lives alone and has daily caregivers, was last been seen at his home around 10 a.m. Thursday. When a caregiver arrived and found the house warm but empty, they initially assumed he was outside working on his property.
