AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - The second suspect in an Augusta Waffle House shooting has been charged with murder, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office.

On Aug. 21, deputies say Layla Bennett, 23, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Now, she has been charged with murder. A bond hearing is set for October 17.

The Richmond County Coroner’s Office says Antoine Stokes, 23, of Martinez, was shot at least once on Aug. 20 at a Waffle House, 103 Talbot Drive, just before 11:30 p.m.

The coroner’s office says Stokes was transported by EMS to Wellstar MCG, where he was pronounced dead on Aug. 21 at 3:59 p.m.

Jalen Christopher Thomas, 26, was also arrested in the shooting.

He was arrested on Sept. 2 and charged
