MONROE, La. (KNOE) - Louisiana State Treasurer John Fleming came to the Monroe VFW to answer member’s questions.

He also provided an update on recent outages with Louisiana Office of Student Financial Assistance.

“Where the Treasury comes in is we actually manage and invest the money. We’ve been watching that very closely,” Fleming said. “So the money is safe. I understand that they’ve already begun to bring some services back up.”

Fleming also says capturing and storing of atmospheric Carbon Dioxide is unnecessary use of tax dollars.

“It’s important to me as a Louisiana, as a person in Louisiana; I don’t want to see us become a pin cushion,” Fleming said. “The plan is that 40% of all carbon dioxide sequestration will be in Louisiana. That is from all over the country and really around
