The new contract for medical services at Dauphin County’s troubled jail comes with a higher price tag but with elements that should also create a higher level of care.

The county inked a $13.5 million annual contract with MEDIKO late last month after dropping its long-time contractor, PrimeCare, following years of complaints and lawsuits surrounding the care the company was providing.
