Almost five miles of Route 147 in Dauphin County will be resurfaced next year.

But, preparation for the $4.3 million project will begin impacting commuters next week.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said trees will be trimmed along the boundaries of the project from Black Shoulder Lane in Halifax Twp. north through Millersburg to Tarry Hall Road in Upper Paxton Twp.

Weather permitting, the work will start on Monday, Oct. 13, and will take about two weeks. Flaggers will be stationed as needed during daylight hours.

The work is in preparation for a 4.8-mile resurfacing project that will be done next year and is expected to be completed by Nov. 13, 2026.
