Title: Montreal Airport Shuttle Driver Fired for Antisemitic Remarks

A shuttle driver at Montreal–Trudeau International Airport has been terminated after a video of him making antisemitic comments went viral. The video, shared on social media, shows the driver shouting at passengers late at night. It was posted by a U.S.-based organization that monitors antisemitism. In the clip, the driver can be heard saying, "You piece of s—, you Zionist piece of s—." Reports indicate that he also shouted in Arabic and made a violent antisemitic threat.

The video gained significant attention, amassing over 400,000 views within 24 hours. Aéroports de Montréal (ADM), which manages the airport, stated that it is taking the incident seriously. Although the driver was not directly employed by the airport, he worked for a subcontractor that provides shuttle services to nearby hotels. ADM emphasized that "hateful behaviour has no place on our airport premises" and that such remarks do not reflect the values of the airport community.

Following the incident, ADM contacted the subcontractor and demanded that the driver be prohibited from operating on airport grounds, warning that their license could be revoked if they failed to comply. The confrontation reportedly occurred near gate 8, outside the hotel shuttle drop-off area. The shuttle services the Fairfield, Hyatt Place, and DoubleTree hotels, all owned by a local real estate developer.

Groupe Maximum, the third-party contractor operating the shuttle, stated that the driver's actions were "entirely inconsistent with the values and standards we uphold as an organization." The company confirmed that the driver was relieved of his duties on Thursday after becoming aware of the video. They expressed regret for any discomfort caused and reiterated their commitment to maintaining a respectful and professional environment.

Aldo Carlucci, director of hospitality operations for Quint Hotels, and Matthew Waxlax of Quintcap, confirmed the driver's dismissal. Waxlax expressed that they were "appalled by the disgusting remarks," noting the significance of the issue as the founder of their company is Jewish. The company is now seeking to connect with affected passengers to address the situation. Carlucci stated, "We really want to make this right."

This incident occurs amid a reported increase in antisemitic acts in Montreal since the onset of the Israel–Hamas conflict in 2023, which has included hate speech, vandalism, and attacks on synagogues.
