(FOX40.COM) — A second suspect in a homicide that occurred in late August was arrested on Thursday, the Stockton Police Department said.

According to police, around 6:20 p.m. on Aug. 30, officers responded to a report of a person shot near Albany Drive and Astor Drive.

Police found a man with multiple gunshot wounds who was then transported to a hospital, police said.

The victim underwent surgery but later died from his injuries on September 16.

According to police, detectives identified a 23-year-old man as a suspect. Officers encountered the suspect on Sept. 22 during a traffic stop in which he was a passenger and arrested him. He was booked into San Joaquin County Jail on a homicide charge.
