BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WIAT) — The Savannah Bananas will be bring back its traveling baseball show to Rickwood Field in Birmingham next year.
The Bananas, a team that combines the lighthearted showmanship of the Harlem Globetrotters with the smalltown feel of a minor league baseball team, will be hitting Birmingham Sept. 19-20 as part of a 45-city tour in 2026.
First stepping up to the plate in 2016, the team has gained a wide audience for its games, a kind of play called "Banana Ball," often including players on stilts, a banana mascot and fast games.
The team, which was recently profiled in a segment on "60 Minutes," last played Birmingham in 2023, again at Rickwood.
