WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A Wichita State alumnus who died earlier this year aboard American Airlines Flight 5342 from Wichita to Washington, D.C. is being honored.
The university unveiled the newly named Kiah Duggins Shocker Support Locker during its annual Heritage Gala Thursday, hosted by the WSU Foundation and Alumni Engagement in celebration of the 2025 alumni award recipients. The support locker honors the legacy of 2017 alum Kiah Duggins , who was one of 67 people that died in January aboard Flight 5342 when it collided with an Army blackhawk helicopter mid-air as the plane was about to land at Reagan National Airport. At the gala, Duggins was also posthumously awarded the 2025 Young Alumni Award.
