CLEVELAND (WJW) – The Cleveland Division of the FBI announced 125 arrests over the course of a summer sting.

According to a press release, “Operation Summer Heat” led to 125 arrests, the seizure of 88 weapons and the seizure of 49 kilograms of illegal drugs.

The operation took place from June 24 to September 20, according to the FBI, and was part of a nationwide crime-fighting initiative.

Among those arrested were 19 gang members, and the operation also resulted in 54 criminal indictments.

“FBI Cleveland is fully committed to reducing violent crime in our region,” said Greg Nelsen, special agent in charge of the FBI Cleveland Division.
