The former girlfriend of a man facing a first-degree murder charge didn’t call police when he said he would kill Sam Graham in November 2020.
Kadence Syrette “didn’t think anything of it” when she got the message from Montana Lewis shortly before Graham was fatally stabbed, court heard Thursday.
The 21-year-old woman told defense counsel David Bayliss she would have alerted police if she thought Lewis was serious. Lewis sent the text to Syrette about 35 minutes before police were called to a home on Muriel Drive on Nov. 12, 2020.
At 4:16 p.m. Lewis sent another message, telling Syrette “he’s dead.” Police were called to the east-end home at 4:31 p.m. Graham, who was dating Lewis’s twin sister, was found laying in a pool of blood in the driveway. He died of a stab wound to his abdomen th
