The Town of Oliver council has approved a contract to build two modular homes to house doctors and other medical personnel, in an effort to address chronic healthcare staff shortages. These shortages have led to the South Okanagan General Hospital (SOGH) closing its emergency room dozens of times over the past decade.
Oliver’s Chief Administrative Officer, Wayne Anderson, presented the plan to council on Monday evening, outlining the need for the homes, which will provide accommodation for healthcare professionals.
