TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ( WBRC ) - A Tuscaloosa County Circuit Judge says he will need more time for examination before he decides whether to recuse himself in a capital murder case involving former Alabama basketball player Darius Miles .

Miles is charged in the shooting death of mother Jamea Harris on the Tuscaloosa Strip in 2023.

Miles’ legal team filed a motion Thursday asking Judge Daniel Pruet to recuse himself, claiming the judge has shown bias and prejudice in court proceedings for their client.

Defense Attorney Mary Turner said during a motion hearing Friday that Miles is no longer playing the game of basketball, he’s now fighting for his life.
