BUFFALO, N.Y. — Billionaire philanthropist and former Buffalo Sabres owner Tom Golisano is buying The Buffalo News building on Washington Street from Douglas Jemal.
Jemal confirmed the sale to WGRZ on Friday afternoon.
According to paperwork filed with the Erie Co. Clerks office, Jemal sold the building for $10M.
Jemal finalized the $5.2M purchase of the former News building in August 2024, and there had been rumored plans to try and lure a grocery chain to the space.
But development at the former Buffalo News building never came to fruition, and the sale to Golisano marks the continued offloading of Western New York properties by Jemal.
In the last year, Jemal sold his stake in the Curtis Malt House, Boulevard Mall, and Richardson Complex.
