SPRINGFIELD -- Heavy rain may have played a part in making for a busy Friday for first responders.

Springfield's emergency dispatch tells Ozarks First between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. there were between 30-35 crashes in the Springfield metro area. Several of them took place along Highway 65, James River Freeway, and West Bypass in the late afternoon. The crashes caused lane closures and traffic jams.

Our team of meteorologists say nearly a half-inch of rain fell today, with Springfield mostly in the clear through the rest of Friday.
