ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WROC) — A contract between the Town of Perinton and Waste Management of New York, signed in 2021, explains why the search for 11-year-old Jacob Pritchett from Brooklyn continues in Perinton, five hours away.
In 2021, neighbors raised concerns about the intense odors emanating from the landfill, resulting in a new agreement that town supervisor Ciaran Hanna said was “far more comprehensive than anything we’ve ever had before.”
Within the pages of the contract lie two points that allow municipal solid waste from outside the Town of Perinton, Monroe County, and the State of New York to be accepted at High Acres.
