[JOHNSTON, Iowa] — Iowa National Guard soldiers face the prospect of going without pay if the government does not reopen by October 15.
The Iowa National Guard assured that the shutdown would not affect service members' abilities to carry out their duties.
"We are ready to click those resources in place," a spokesperson said. "There is quite a list of different things that we can provide our service members."
The National Guard emphasized its readiness to assist troops and their families if paychecks are delayed due to the shutdown.
