ST. LOUIS — The city's Civil Service Commission is accepting applications for a permanent director of personnel, one of the most important and powerful jobs in city government.

National executive search firm MGT Impact Solutions will head the recruitment effort. The firm began accepting applications last week and candidates can apply through the end of October. Per the St. Louis charter, the Civil Service Commission will narrow the field to three candidates and present the slate to Mayor Cara Spencer, who will choose one.

Greater St. Louis Inc., the region's main business lobbying group, has agreed to pay MGT up to $75,000 for the search. Civil Service Commission Chairman Vincent Flewellen said Greater St. Louis's role is solely funding the search firm and it is not involved with the
