SULPHUR, La. (KPLC) - Dust off your boots, the Bell City High School Rodeo is returning to the West-Cal Arena in Sulphur for its 44th year.
The annual rodeo starts tonight at 7. 335 junior high and high schoolers are expected to be there.
For some participants, like Emma Nunez, rodeoing is a big part of life. Last year, Nunez secured her spot for Nationals in Rock Springs, Wyoming.
“I’ve been rodeoing probably since I was about 7, but I’ve been in the Bell City Rodeo Club since probably my 6th-grade year,” Nunez said.
Sponsor Ella Kay says that the rodeo isn’t where it is today by accident.
“The families behind this rodeo are what make it possible for us, the sponsors who put their time in, and the Louisiana Department of Agriculture Equine Board and all they do for youth rodeo,” Kay
