An Airdrie man has been charged with the theft of more than $30,000 in lumber from two Lethbridge businesses, police said Friday.

On Sept. 2, Challenger Building Supplies staff told police they had discovered that $12,000 worth of plywood had been stolen.

The next day, Logic Lumber staff reported to police that a significant quantity of hardie board, valued at $19,000, had been taken and $4,000 worth of product had been damaged.

In both cases, locks were damaged to get into the fenced compounds and the thefts occurred over the previous weekend, police said Friday.
