It has been five years since Daulatram’s family left Pakistan’s Sindh seeking a better future for his children. The education of his kids, along with others living in the settlement near Delhi’s Signature Bridge is, however, stuck in a limbo. Lack of documentation has compelled most kids to drop out after fifth standard.

Mr. Daulatram, who runs a roadside stall, has five kids, and out of those, only one goes to a Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) run primary school near Majnu ka Tilla. His daughter Sandhya is in fifth standard and will have to drop out next year. “We came here with all our heart and money. We don’t see any growth, we don’t have a proper place, we are just working hand to mouth”, he said.
