NEWTON, Mass. —
Voters from half of the wards in Newton are being sent corrections after they were given vote by mail instructions containing an incorrect due date.
Residents in Wards 1-4 who received a vote-by-mail package containing their ballot may have also originally received errant instructions about the deadline to return their ballot, Mayor Ruthanne Fuller and Acting City Clerk Cassidy Flynn said Friday. All residents who may have received these incorrect instructions will be sent a correction notice .
"The incorrect instructions stated that ballots must be received by March 5, 2024. That date is wrong. All Vote by Mail ballots must be received by the close of polls on Election Day, Tuesday, November 4, 2025," the city officials wrote.
