WICHITA, Kan. (KAKE) - A Wichita man has been sentenced to nearly three years in prison for vandalizing a north Wichita church earlier this year.

Michael Gonzalez was sentenced to 34 months in prison for his role in a March 15 burglary at St. Patrick Catholic Church near 19th and Arkansas. Officials say he committed an act o f vandalism that resulted in substantial damage to the church property, including the destruction of a statue of St. Patrick and other religious artifacts. Police also said a United States flag was burned.
