The City of Timmins and CUPE Local 1544, representing Timmins Transit staff, have reached a second tentative agreement following continued negotiations on Friday, the city announced that same day.

The tentative agreement will be brought forward to CUPE Local 1544 members for a ratification vote.

If ratified by the membership, the agreement will then be presented to Timmins City Council at its Tuesday meeting for approval.

All 39 members of CUPE Local 1544 will meet Saturday at 3 p.m. Even if they do vote yes, the city won’t be able to pass it through council until their next meeting on Tuesday.

“It’s unfortunate, we were able to get back to work a lot faster,” CUPE spokesperson Rosanna Moreau told The Daily Press on Friday.
