Treasure hunters from all corners of Florida have gathered in Orlando for what could be considered the biggest estate sale in the state, featuring thousands of unclaimed items from bank safety deposit boxes.
The event, held at a Holiday Inn near Orlando International Airport on Saturday, showcases over 500 lots of valuables that were left in bank safety deposit boxes, forgotten or unclaimed after the owners passed away.
Blaise Ingoglia, the state chief financial officer, explained the process:
"The stuff that you see here comes from deposit boxes that have been unpaid for three years, they drill it open and try to find who the owners are and if they can't find who the owners are it winds up here," he said.
