ALTOONA, Pa. (WTAJ) — As part of breast cancer awareness month, WTAJ is featuring local women who’ve not only battled the disease, but are now joining in the nationwide fight for a cure.
The movement “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” unites communities through the strength of fighters like Michelle Aaron. Her battle with breast cancer began in March 2024.
"I went in for my mammogram in March. I was about three months late getting it, but I didn't have any concerns," Aaron said. "But when I did go in, they found a mass."
Months later, her suspicions were confirmed. It was stage 2 hormone-positive breast cancer, a disease she eventually found out was common on her dad's side of the family.
