HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WTAJ) — With lawmakers still at an impasse on the federal budget, on top of an already severely late state budget, money has run out in counties across Pennsylvania.
Some counties have already had to make tough decisions to lay off employees and cut services. Blair County Commissioners said they're worried they're not too far behind and could soon have to take drastic measures.
"We're in a very dire position. It's very upsetting," Blair County Commissioner Dave Kessling said.
The county's rainy day fund is almost gone, according to Kessling, and with no replacement trickling down from the state, he said they've already scaled back expenses wherever they can.
