Earthquake of magnitude 7.8 strikes off tip of South America, tsunami threat issued

A magnitude 7.8 earthquake struck the Drake Passage, between the southern tip of South America and Antarctica, following which, a tsunami threat was issued, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said Friday.

The quake occurred at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles), the United States Geological Survey reported. - Ends
