US President Donald Trump on Friday reacted to missing out on the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize, saying Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado accepted it “in his honour.”

Speaking to the media, Trump said, “The person who actually got the Nobel Prize called me today and said, ‘I am accepting this in honour of you because you really deserved it,’ a very nice thing to do.”

He added cheekily, “I did not say then, ‘Give it to me,’ though,” prompting laughter among those present. Trump emphasised that he has “been helping her along the way” and reiterated, “I am happy because I saved millions of lives.”
