The deadly storm that swept across Tasmania has eased with the SES saying it responded to about 100 requests for assistance during the sustained severe weather event.

Two people died in the North-West when they were hit by a falling tree.

Police are expected to release more details on the tragic event soon.

Those requests included helping to secure windows, repair roofs and clear fallen trees.

Damaging winds are now isolated to the far North-East and East Coast of the state and are expected to ease below warning thresholds early on Saturday.

Tasmania SES Acting Assistant Director Operations and Resources Chris Irvine said while the severe weather had cleared most of the state, SES personnel remained ready to assist with weather damage.
