ACADIA NATIONAL PARK —With peak leaf-peeping season upon us, visitors heading to Acadia National Park this weekend are finding more access than expected despite the ongoing government shutdown.

“Very concerned. I thought the park was going to be shut down. Is it going to ruin our vacation? And we won’t be able to do anything,” said Matthew Brown, who’s visiting the park from Georgia this weekend.

Like many visitors, Brown said he was pleasantly surprised by how much of Acadia remains open.

“Thankfully, everything’s pretty much been opened up, and they’re still doing the reservations for Cadillac Mountain,” said Brown. “We were able to jump on there and get tickets for the sunrise. We got to see that and explore throughout the day.”
