MATTAWAMKEAG -- A family has been displaced after a devastating fire.

Crews were called to 151 Medway Road just before 4 p.m. Friday afternoon for a fully involved structure fire.

That house fire spread quickly into the woods and left the building a total loss.

Fortunately crews were able to get the fire knocked down within the first hour.

Mattawamkeag Fire Chief Jonathan Williams said two occupants live there and neither were injured.

"It was probably a good 45 minutes to be able to go and get it underneath control. We mainly focused on the woods portion because the home was already damaged severely," said Chief Williams.

Crews have confirmed the Fire Marshals office is investigating.
