Communities along the shoreline are preparing for potential coastal flooding on Sunday.

NBC Connecticut StormTracker meteorologists are tracking a nor’easter Sunday night into early Monday that is expected to bring strong winds and power outages across the state.

Rick Fontana, director of emergency operations for West Haven, said they are anticipating anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000 power outages.

“This is a fall storm, they are sometimes some of the difficult ones because all the leaves on the trees, a lot of rain, saturated grounds, heavy winds,” Fontana said.

Fontana added West Haven has a charger that can power 100 cellphones if needed.
