A garbage truck struck overhead fiber-optic cables Friday at State Rt. 795 and Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township, closing the intersection to traffic, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Reginald Green, 40, of Toledo, was driving the truck east on Route 795 at about 3:30 p.m. when the vehicle’s rear receptacle, which was “inadvertently” left in the upright position, struck the cables owned by Spectrum Internet, causing them to cover the lanes in both directions.
The road closure was expected to last through much of Friday evening.
