Louisiana State Police have released video footage from a Sept. 30 shooting in Ascension Parish in which a trooper shot and killed a motorist.

The video stitches together footage from police body and dash cameras from the night of the shooting, with provided narration.

In the video, viewable here , State Police say Brandon Nicholas, 34, of Sunshine, reached toward a firearm in his car while resisting arrest.

Nicholas originally was pulled over shortly before 2 a.m. on La. 431 near La. 935 in Ascension Parish for a nonfunctioning taillight.

Dashcam video shows Nicholas was slow to stop his vehicle, making the trooper nervous, the video narration says. The trooper then commanded Nicholas to exit the Saturn and walk to the back of his vehicle to speak with him.
