Two men were arrested Wednesday night in Baton Rouge while allegedly driving around with five duct-taped kilograms of cocaine in the back of their vehicle.

The men, Chad Evans, 50, and Vernon White, 72, were each booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail on a count of possession with intent to distribute a Schedule II substance.

Baton Rouge police officers initiated a traffic stop for improper lane usage shortly before midnight Wednesday. During the stop, officers located and seized the cocaine.

White has a previous criminal history of theft, and Evans has a criminal history involving narcotics violations, a release from BRPD said.
