SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) -A grant request for Ozarks Area Community Action Corporation’s Head Start program has been funded.
$87,000 will provide nutritional and healthy food options for the children and families the nonprofit serves. The funds will also allow the agency to upgrade its outdated kitchens and educational materials.
OACAC says it also aims to offer better resources for families struggling with meal planning, food insecurity, and more.
“We’re planning to do an online nutrition education outreach to families. So, they’ll get information through text, short little snippets that help them know more. And when you know more, you can make better choices,” said Kimberly Shinn-Brown, OACAC’s Head Start Program Director.
