LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A jury is considering the fate of two men charged with the murder of Alfredo Villarreal .
The five-day trial concluded on Friday, October 10, with closing arguments at 1 p.m. The case stems from back in 2022, when prosecutors charged Christian Salinas and Javier Contreras with the murder of Villarreal.
The state alleges that Contreras ordered the killing after Villarreal reportedly assaulted his niece, Kayleen Contreras, who testified during the trial. Javier Contreras’s son, Damian Contreras, also gave testimony against his father.
Now, prosecutors urged jurors to carefully evaluate the evidence presented, which included firearms and surveillance footage showing Salinas’ car at the crime scene.
They argued that Salinas was involved in committing the crime.
