MERIDIAN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) - Details about a U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) operation in Meridian Township this week remain vague, but the incident has pushed officials to direct their residents to immigration resources.

Township Supervisor Scott Hendrickson said the operation, which took place Thursday morning, was unexpected.

“We didn’t receive any additional details beyond that, simply that they were coming in, they were going to do some kind of operation, and then we were notified that they were leaving as well,” he told News 10.

Earlier communication from the township indicated the operation as by Immigration and Customs Enforcement, or ICE, but on Friday, township police clarified it was CBP, which also enforces immigration laws.
