It may be a snow-filled Thanksgiving long weekend for some parts of Alberta, with snowfall warnings and special weather statements issued Friday afternoon.

Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) issued a flurry of snowfall warnings and special weather statements for a significant portion of western Alberta, stretching down from the Grande Cache area to the U.S. border.

The snowfall warning stated that five to 20 cm of snow is expected, depending on location. Rain is expected to change over to snow between midday Saturday and Saturday evening and continue through Saturday night.

“Snowfall may be heavy at times, which would reduce visibility,” ECCC stated, while light snow is expected on Sunday.
