ST. PAUL — The state of Minnesota is facing off against the Trump administration over the participation of transgender athletes in high school sports.
Friday, Oct. 10, was the deadline set by the administration for Minnesota to ban transgender athletes from competition or risk losing federal funding.
Nearly 250 school board members in more than 100 districts signed a letter asking the state and the Minnesota State High School League to comply with Title IX.
“I just think it’s unfair boys get to compete with girls, it’s pretty much that simple,” said Gus Booth, a Warroad school board member who signed the letter. “I was elected in part to keep transgender ideology out of our district and I feel an obligation to do that.”
