JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) - East Tennessee State University President Brian Noland spoke about the progress made in the 2024-25 school year and what's to come next school year at the State of the University address.

During Friday's address, Noland revealed a Gear Up partnership grant that will allow the university to partner with school districts across the region.

Noland said the university will invest about $60 million in the school districts.

"It will begin with the cohort of 6th and 7th grade students and then works with those students as they journey from middle school on to high school and then ultimately as they move on to college," Noland said.
