A San Pablo man was sentenced to life in prison Friday after a jury found him guilty of murdering his ex girlfriend in 2017.

The DA’s office said 51-year-old Lawyer Dushan McBride was sentenced to 95 years to life in state prison after being found guilty of murdering 30-year-old Rashanda Franklin in 2017.

Officials said McBride waited for Franklin in a church parking lot where she dropped off her children for school.

According to the DA’s office, McBride had been following and harassing Franklin for weeks after she ended their two-year relationship.

Fearing for her safety, Franklin called 911 and drove away with her children still in the car, according to authorities.
