Days after the administration in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal district identified a mosque and 80 houses as allegedly built on a pond meant for public use, Sambhal MP Zia Ur Rehman Barq on Friday said notices were given in haste and asked the administration to not target the residents.
The authorities had on Tuesday declared the constructions in Sambhal’s Hatim Sarai area as “illegal” and issued notices, giving the occupants 15 days’ time to respond and pasted notices on walls of several homes.
Maintaining that the administration and police should work for the benefit of people, the MP said, “It does not matter if this area is 500 meters or 50 metres from my office.
