BLUE HILL -- A representative from Blue Hill who'd been issued a summons for allegedly attempting to influence another person's decision at a polling place has been cleared of the misdemeanor charge.
The district attorney for District 6 ordered the charge against democratic Representative Nina Milliken dismissed yesterday, based on new evidence the DA says shows Milliken was acting in compliance with Maine law.
Milliken was accused of trying to influence another person's decision regarding a candidate or ballot issue within 250 feet of the entrance and within a voting place in Blue Hill. Maine's top election official, Secretary of State Shenna Bellows, says Milliken should never have been charged at all.
