An 82-year-old Pontiac man died Friday, five days after he was struck by a truck while crossing the street, the Oakland County Sheriff's Office announced.
Authorities said the fatal crash marks the sixth time a pedestrian has been fatally struck in Pontiac this year.
Larry Gene Howard was crossing Walton Boulevard near its intersection with Baldwin Avenue in a designated crosswalk at about 12:30 p.m. Monday, according to an Oakland County Sheriff's Office press release.
Meanwhile, a 2012 Chevrolet Colorado driven by a 68-year-old Pontiac man was traveling southbound on Baldwin when the driver made a right turn onto Walton, hitting Howard in the process.
Howard was transported to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday, the sheriff's office said.
